Zhi Qin (David) grew up in a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) family in China. His father Gansun Liu, whom the clinic is named after, had been one of the best traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in their home town. David learned about many herbs and acupuncture techniques from his father. One thing impressed him most is that he witnessed his father used acupuncture to help many patients, including those that even hospitals couldn’t help.
David immigrated to Canada with his family in 2001 and worked in different areas of business. However, he discovered his passion for traditional Chinese medicine and started his formal studies at Oshio College of Acupuncture & Herbology in 2012. In 2014, when he and his wife were expecting for their second son, a C-section surgery was proposed by the doctor because the baby was still in a breech position by the end of the 38th week. David had used his acupuncture knowledge to help the baby enter the right position, making a natural delivery possible. This was a positive experience for David to see the value of his new career and how it could help others as well.
After over 600 hours of practice at school clinics in Victoria and 4 months practice in Tonggu hospital in China, David became a registered acupuncturist in March 2016 and started his own clinic the following July. During this period of time, David has helped patients with chronic and acute pain, such as a stiff migraine, whiplash, frozen shoulder, sciatica, knee pain, as wells as symptoms of mental illnesses such as depression and insomnia.
Now David’s focus is to use acupuncture to enhance one’s self-healing abilities and maintain a natural balance within the body.
